Cascara

Situated on Vancouver Island, Cascara is a real estate development that is close to outdoor activities and surrounded by nature. I developed an identity that took inspiration from the forests and beaches around the development, from the forest-inspired colour palette, to the raindrop counters in the wordmark.

Brandmarks

The monogram above consists of a c-shaped log print to represent the forests surrounding Cascara, combined with a wordmark. This is the primary brandmark.

The secondary, custom wordmark is based on the typefamily Eagle. The r and a characters have been modified to make it unique, the latter have raindrop-shaped counters to further allude to the outdoors.

Log print

The log print is also used on its own as a graphic device. It can be cropped playfully on different applications throughout the brand, and a vector outline of the log shape is sometimes used to frame images.

Stationery

I chose a portrait format with rounded corners for the business card to create a modern feel, and cropped the embossed log print playfully within the space.

The envelope and letterhead also feature the log print, cropped in interesting ways to add intrigue. For better brand consistency, I created a custom sticker for use on printed items, or to seal the envelope.

Brand guidelines

I created comprehensive brand guidelines that detail how to use the different brand elements.

Hoarding

The site hoarding makes use of the log print device and uses the log outline shape to frame a rendering.

Advertising

Print ads feature large, full-width imagery, framed with the log outline, and feature a concise heading.

Other logos

The brandmark sits harmoniously alongside the developer’s other projects.
