My name is Alix Land. I am an ideas-focused graphic designer and typographer based in London and Winchester. This website is a collection of my commercial and personal projects.
I’m inspired by the fact that designers have a great deal of power over how people view the world and that we have a responsibility to shape our society positively.
I studied Graphic Communication with Typography at the University of Plymouth, which gave me a strong understanding of typography and concept-focused design. Over the past three and a half years I’ve gained a wide range of experience working for clients in the public, private and third sectors.
I am now working as a junior designer at a well-known publishing company. I am available to take on carefully selected freelance projects, so please get in touch to discuss your ideas.
Elsewhere, I write Design Think, a blog about design and life as seen through the eyes of a graphic designer and I run What Designers Look Like, an initiative aiming to make a collection of designers’ faces all in one place.

Site info
This site was designed and coded by myself using Squarespace as a both a host and framework. The domain name is provided by LCN (with whom I’ve been a happy customer for ten years). The type is set in Nimbus Sans, provided by Typekit. The responsive grid is based on Dan Eden’s Toast, which I thoroughly recommend. The site works best in Safari, but also works in other modern browsers and on popular mobile devices. Thanks also to Stuart Hobday for his help with the Squarespace platform.
